Link Popularity

My husband has had a website for his business now for a few years. Slowly, this website has been getting more visitors and business from the website, but he's been trying to figure out how he can increase the popularity of it. I've learned quite a bit from my own blogging experiences, including some new vocabulary. For instance, the term "algorithm" has to do with how a search engine operates in order to optimize the popularity of your website. Google (which is the most popular search engine) has a very complex algorithm which I don't fully understand. One factor, which no longer carries the weight it once did, is page rank. One reason why Google decreased the importance of page ranking is that it was too easy to manipulate. Instead, links have become much more important. More importantly, Google looks at where the link is place on the website or blog and gives more value as to whether the link is within textual content as opposed to sitting at the bottom of a page in a line of links. Google also looks at the text that surrounds the link and determines how that relates to the link and whether that will determine the importance of the link. There are many ways to increase the popularity of your website and there are too many to mention. Some of the more popular ones are trading links with other websites and link baiting. Of course, blogs have become a very popular way to draw attention to a website. It not only increases traffic to your website, but gives it a personal touch. You can try to improve the popularity of your website on your own, but the time it would take to increase link popularity would probably interfere with the actual running of your business. One company that is helping advertisers with websites increase traffic is Blogitive. They find the most popular links that coicide with the web release for your website and get bloggers to blog about those web releases and include the most popular links. By increasing the links that point to your website, you increase your visitors and, in turn, increase your business. It's that simple!
