Shabby Chic
No one can argue that designer Marc Jacobs isn't a talented, albeit sometimes troubled, man who has been designing his own line as well as pieces for Louis Vuitton. Perhaps he was making a statement about how frustrating it is to have his bags knocked off and sold in the back alleys in China Town, by creating a designer bag out of an otherwise dollar store find. This cheap, plastic carry all, which can be found in just about any cheap store for under a dollar, has the Louis Vuitton luggage stamp on it, and thereby makes it a designer bag selling for over a thousand dollars. So does this make Marc Jacobs a smart business man? Maybe even smarter than you think. The bag is actually a knock-off of another designer, Jack Spade, who did the very same thing in his own line, with his own logo. I love the irony, but not at that price.
