High School Musical

I was going to write another post about diet, but I think I'll save that for tomorrow. In the meantime, have you seen 'High School Musical' yet? It's about the hottest thing to hit television and, although it was released months ago by Disney, exclusively for their channel, the popularity of this movie just keeps soaring. The soundtrack from the movie, together with Barry Manilow's 'Greatest Hits Of The Fifties' topped the charts for weeks and both CDs are still selling very well, months after their release. So why the popularity? In an age where movies, video games and music tends to lean towards more violence and profanity, how did these products rise to the top? There have been tons of articles over the last few months about the enormous popularity, especially with 'High School Musical', that has an incredibly wide appeal, from five to fifty year olds. I doubt that Disney had any inkling that it would do so well, otherwise they would have released it to movie theatres first instead of straight to television. No doubt there's a sequal in the works because, judging from the sales of the soundtrack together with the sales of Barry's new CD, which has now gone platinum, people are hungry for some good, clean fun! We are overloaded on bad news and we all need a break. What better way? If you haven't seen this movie yet, don't fret, it's on periodically on Disney and, no doubt, the release of the movie on DVD is imminent. I wouldn't be surprised if a version of 'High School Musical' made it to the Broadway stage, right next door to 'Happy Days, The Musical'!

Susan, thanks for the well wishes for me and my hubby.

I had no idea this movie was so big. I've seen it on the Disney Channel when I've been flipping thru. If I'm not mistaken if you want the DVD you can pre order it at The Disney Store and at Disney Online.

I must be out of the loop because I've never even heard of it! I am going to have to check it out now, though. Thanks for the tip!
