Still The Same
If you are looking for great gifts for the holidays, then consider giving the gift of music. I have a few on my list that I'll be looking forward to giving and receiving, the first of which is Rod Stewart's 'Still The Same'. Okay, maybe he's not exactly as I remember him back in the '70s when he was a skinny, rowdy rocker. He's a gentler, calmer Rod, but he certainly breathes new life into some of my personal favorites like "Still the Same", "Missing You" and "Fooled Around and Fell in Love". The arrangements are built to suit Rod's unique delivery. Another one I'm looking forward to is Barry Manilow's "Greatest Songs of the Sixties". Again, Barry delivers some of the most romantic songs of that era, in a way that is unique to his style and arrangements. He duets with 'The Association' on a couple of numbers which were hits for them and covers 'The Four Seasons' as well as Dusty Springfield and Burt Bacharach. If it's mood music you want, then you will definitely want this one along with his new DVD "First and Farewell" highlighting his first ever tour and his final tour back in 2004. There are also new CDs out from Tony Bennett, who duets with Billy Joel, Paul McCartney and Elton John on some of the greatest romantic songs for all time and original music by Bob Dylan, whose greatest classics are the backdrop for a new Broadway show written and choreographed by Twyla Tharp.
