Glamour Globes

Well, the first of the major awards shows were televised last night. The Golden Globes, in my own opinion, is one of the best award shows on television. First of all, it's shorter than the other 999 shows and it shows the stars more relaxed than other shows. Who wouldn't be when sitting at a dinner table with friends and a few bottles of wine. Of course, I always tune in to any of these shows to see who is wearing what. I love to see the hairstyles, jewelry, shoes and bags. I love to see who knocked it out of the ballpark with their stylist's choices and who struck out, and, most likely who will be firing their stylist the next day. I honestly can say that everyone looked amazing last night. Glamour was apparently the goal for the evening and everyone pulled it off beautifully. There were no outlandish hair styles or trashy gowns. Even Melanie Griffith looked sophisticated and elegant when introducing her beautifuly young daughter. So, how do these stars achieve such fabulous looks for the evening? Don't believe any story you hear from any of them that they sat around all day and just got ready a couple of hours before. You know these women (and men too) spend the whole day primping for their appearances starting with the red carpet and ending with a pan of audience members as the credits are rolling. Stars typically will have facials (even starting days before) along with manicures, pedicures, waxing, hair coloring, massages and endless fittings for that perfect fit. There's nothing worse than an ill-fitting gown, even if it's from one of the top designers. Their make-up (both women and men) is always flawlessly applied by top make-up artists, still making most of them look competely natural, but pulled together. It will be interesting to see if the other awards shows follow suit. Thankfully, we don't have to spend hours on end to sit at home in our pajamas and watch the festivities.
