The Police

I've been a fan of the band, The Police, ever since I heard 'Roxanne' years ago. Their sound was so unique that it would be hard to categorize them in terms of style. They are reggae, jazz and rock all rolled into one. I've always loved Sting and he is one of the most talented song writers and musicians of my generation, but these songs from his band, The Police, are classics that are still popular even today and so recognizable. Of course, I am thrilled that they will be on tour this summer, but sadly I'm not going. My husband and son will be going this summer and getting tickets was no easy feat. The minute the tickets went on sale I scoured the internet trying to find tickets that wouldn't cost me a second mortgage on my house. For an hour I kept checking, but to get tickets to their appearance at Madison Square Garden was next to impossible, unless I wanted to get them through a ticket broker. Unbeknownst to me, my daughter who was at work with my husband that day was doing the very same thing. She too was on the computer trying to get tickets, but decided to go to the next closest venue which was in Boston. Finally, she was able to get only two tickets for their appearance in Boston, but the tickets aren't even together. Since my son had never seen them and who knows when they will be touring again, I gave up my ticket so that he could see them with my husband. Yes, I'm sad that I am not seeing The Police perform live, but there is one thing I can do to ease my pain and that's get their upcoming CD simply entitled 'The Police'. This is the definitive collection of all their hit songs and then some. The song tracks on the police cd are as follows:
Track Listings
Disc: 1
1. Fallout
2. Can't Stand Losing You
3. Next to You
4. Roxanne
5. Truth Hits Everybody
6. Hole in My Life
7. So Lonely

9. Reggatta de Blanc
10. Bring on the Night
11. Walking on the Moon
12. Don't Stand So Close to Me
13. Driven to Tears
14. Canary in a Coalmine

Disc: 2
1. Do Do Do de da da Da
2. Voices Inside My Head
3. Invisible Sun
4. Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
5. Spirits in the Material World
6. Demolition Man
7. Every Breath You Take

9. Wrapped Around Your Finger
10. Walking in Your Footsteps
11. Synchronicity II
12. King of Pain
13. Murder by Numbers
14. Tea in the Sahara
I just got a brand new car with a sunroof, so you know I will be blasting this baby in my car all this summer. Okay, so I'm not going to see 'The Police' on tour this summer, but with my new car and my police cd,it's enough of a consolation that when I wave goodbye to my husband and son on the day they leave for Boston, I won't feel too bad and you never know, maybe The Police will love touring so much that they will decide to come back around next summer. If that happens, then you can be sure that I will be right there with them.

Memorial Day

Usually when people think about Memorial Day, they think about backyard barbeque's with family and friends, heading to the beach or shopping for all those great sales, but Memorial Day is really about remembering our fallen heroes, our soldiers. I think with all those who died serving our country, especially recently with the war in Iraq and Afganistan, we really need to take a moment and remember these brave people. This has nothing to do with whether you believe war, especially this war, is right or wrong. Either way, these brave young men and women need to be remembered for their unselfish acts to serve our country. I'm not saying that you shouldn't enjoy your long weekend, I know I will, but just take a minute to think about all those who lost their precious lives, probably way too soon. Have a great weekend and check out the history of Memorial Day
here.

Saving Online

Shopping online is certainly very convenient for all of us that lead busy lives, but there's a hefty pricetag that comes from this convenience. If you read my blog regularly, then you know I'm all about saving money. If you have to shop online, then check out the coupon codes at Coupon Chief. This is an amazing website where you can get Target coupons , Dell coupons and even Weight Watchers coupons. You can save money every day with this website and never leave your house. You're not only saving money with the wonderful coupons, but you are also saving money on gas which is still on the rise in price. With graduations, weddings and showers coming up in the next few months, this website will come in handy for me. One of my all-time favorite websites for great bargains on name-brand items and clothing is Overstock.Com. Now I can get Overstock coupons and shop for everything I need for my upcoming vacation, gifts for family and friends and all the things my kids will need to go away to camp. My son starts college in the fall and he will need lots of things to make his dorm room just like home. With the cost of tuition, room and board, I will need to save money more than ever and I can do that very easily right from the comfort of my home, in my pajamas with this great website. I hope I save enough money to buy myself a couple of things to. After all, if mama ain't happy, no one else will be either!

Paris Vindicated.....Sorta

Do we ever get tired of Paris Hilton? Apparently not. Even CNN's Nancy Grace devoted a good portion of her show to Paris' vindication. Well, it really wasn't a vindication, but it was enough that the Court decided to reduce Paris' jail term from forty-five days down to twenty-three because she's been a very good girl. She's shown up on time for her subsequent court appearances and she's not driving her own car. She's gone as far to dress appropriately and stay home late nights, rather than party. Kathy Hilton, Paris' mom issued a statement to the holier-than-thou Barbara Walters on 'The View', that she hoped that young people would learn from her daughter's mistake. One could only hope. Paris is still a young girl's dream. Maybe the twenty-six year old heiress, who decided to drop her appeal and live with the twenty-three days in jail will finally live up to her role model image. In the meantime, we hear she's taking karate lessons just in case she needs to protect herself while in the slammer.

The Secret Behind Shapely Secrets

You've seen the infomercial a hundred times. It usually runs early mornings in the wee hours when you can't sleep. You've tried to exercise, but with little success. Now you see Greer Childers touting her latest program Shapely Secrets . Greer is known for Body Flex, which is a program roote in the belief that a special breathing technique can help boost metabolism. However, the deep breathing, which is quite strenuous, is not for everyone. Enter Shapely Secrets. Here, you just breathe normally while doing a routine of diametric (i.e. isometric) exercises, performing each set for approximately twenty-five seconds. One example is for the tummy area. You sit in a chair and twist at the waist while sucking in your stomach area, but still breathing normally for twenty-five seconds in each direction. This should be repeated twice for best results. Those who have used this program do say they see results, but mostly with the advanced program. Nevertheless, this is an exercise program whereby Greer has put a new twist (no pun intended) on an old idea of using your own muscle to burn fat as opposed to lifting weights. I've heard mixed things about this program, but since this one gets a lot of hits here, I thought it deserved further exploring. All I can say is proceed with caution. I have read that their customer service department is not the best and if you can get if off ebay, that's probably your best bet.

Winning Big

I just found a site that is really unique. We all know that there are sites where you can bid against other members to win things you need like clothes and other necessities, but here's a site that allows you to bid on things you want or, more specifically, things you only dream about like luxurious cars, big screen televisions, exotic vacations and, my personal favorite, cash! All you have to do is begin with the lowest bid which could be a penny. You can do this through the website or you can even do this through text messaging. The website called bid 4 prizes is free to join for a basic membership, or for a small monthly fee, you can become a premium member to bid on even more great stuff like a BMW. Frankly, I would want the cash. There's a lot I could do with a million dollars. I have a son starting college in the fall and another one right behind him who will want to do the same. I also would love to take a vacation, do some much needed work on my house and not worry about retiring anymore than I already have. Before that was just a dream, but now it is possible that this dream of mine can come true. If believing is seeing, then see this site and believe your dreams can come true for you. You will see testimonials from other members that have played and won. You will also see that as you play, you will win points that you can cash in for some great prizes. It's like an arcade for adults. It's fun, it's fee and you can walk away with some amazing prizes.

Beauty Begins With A Beautiful Smile

What's the very first thing you believe people notice about you? Do you think it's your eyes or your hair? Actually, the first thing that most people will notice first is your smile. What will your smile reveal about your teeth though? Besides the importance of having healthy teeth and gums, your smile can either add years to your face or detract from your age depending on how well you care for your dental health. Everyone wants sparkling, white teeth, but you can't have that first unless your underlying dental health is taken care of. Many people neglect their teeth because they don't have the time or money, but neglecting your dental health can end up costing you much more than you think. Perhaps you don't have a regular dentist. If that's the case, then you need to start looking for a dentist who will help you not only achieve a beautiful smile, but also give you the utmost care for your dental health. If you live in the Alexandria area of Virginia, one such dental care office is Hayfield Dental Care. The office has been in operation since 1987 and has provided treatment to over 23,000 patients. All dentists there have received specialized or advanced training so most dental procedures can be performed right there without having to be referred to another office. Their services include general, family and cosmetic dentistry which means it's great for the whole family, not just you. Orthodonitic consultations are provided at no charge as well which is great if you have kids in need of braces. Take care of your teeth and let your smile leave a lasting first impression on everyone you meet.

High Style Pony Tails

Pony tails are back big time. So much so, that we have recently seen them on runways and at black tie affairs. Besides being very stylish, the pony tail has become the answer to a bad hair day, however, you can cause a great deal of damage to your hair by not taking certain precautions. First of all, don't do it every day because you will subject your hair to constant breakage. Also, don't pony up until hair is completely dry. Wet hair can shrink up when drying in a pony tail and be more subject to damage. Finally, use a seamless band to tie back hair. A great brand is Goody Ouchless Elatics which can be found in any drugstore for around two dollars.

Princess Diana: Ten Years After

It's hard to believe that it's been almost ten years since the death of Princess Diana. I think she will always be remembered as the person who put a human face on British Royalty with her ability to reach out to everyone and relate to people on their level. On July 1st she would have been forty-six years old. Her sons, now grown at twenty-four and twenty-two, would have given her great joy. She would have understood that they owed it to themselves to find their way in life first and she would choose to be proud of all the work they have done to keep her memory alive. On the anniversary of her birthday, there will be a charity concert in her honor at Wembly Stadium. Proceeds will go to the Princess' memorial fun and will star her good friend Elton John. Prince William recently stated in an interview that he wanted the concert to reflect her own personality; full of energy, fun and happiness and that he wanted it to be the best birthday present ever. A special memorial service for both families will be held on August 31st and this month expect to see yet another book "The Diana Chronicles", to be published. Even after ten years, she still captures our hearts and souls.

The Midas Touch

Presenting, picking sound investments has never been more crucial. With all the investing opportunities available, one stands out as being sound and that one investment is gold. You can purchase gold or other precious metals for immediate personal delivery or, you can arrange for your purchase to be safely stored at an independent bank or depository. If you are unfamiliar with how to invest in gold or other precious metals, your investment is available in coin or ingot form. Ingots, for those who don't know, are made of pure bullion (the precious metal) and are cast in a convenient shape and size that so they can be easily stored away. Investing in gold is nothing new. Historically, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans have invested in this precious metal as it is a sign of wealth and power. Today, the beauty of investing in gold lies in its proven ability to diversify investments, protect wealth and preserve one's purchasing power. It's a great way to invest in your future or your childens' future and, if you haven't found a suitable Mother's Day gift, this would be a unique and thoughtful way of expressing your love for mom.

Is Pardoning Paris Really Warranted?

By now, everyone knows that Paris Hilton will be going to jail for forty-five days beginning in June. Of course, Paris is upset. Who wouldn't be? However, Paris Hilton was caught driving under the influence on more than one occasion. She was given very clear orders on what she needed to do during her probation period and she followed none of those directions. Her attempts to blame her advisors fell on deaf ears in the courtroom and Judge Sauer imposed the jail sentence. If the media coverage wasn't enough, now a petition has been submitted to Governor Schwartzenager to pardon Paris because her fans would miss her since she brings so much entertainment and glamour into their lives. There is actually a small chance that he might grant it since the Hiltons were allegedly heavy campaign contributors. With all that is going on in the world, how does this stuff become headline news? If Paris really believes, as she has stated, that she is not above the law, then she should do the time. Afterall, it's smacks of a brand new reality show for her......Paris Hilton, starring in "The Criminal Life".

Pay Per Post

I'm still fairly new to Pay Per Post, but I have lots of friends who make money blogging with this website. In fact, some like Pay Per Post so much, that they have given up on all the other pay to post websites. What they like about Pay Per Post is that there are always a continuous variety blogging opportuntities on any given day. Also, you can submit more than one blog to Pay Per Post so you can really maximize your earning potential this way. I read in one e-mail from Pay Per Post, that one of their bloggers earned $10,000 last year just from Pay Per Post. Of course, earning that much money would take a lot of work and dedication on a daily basis, but the point is, the earning potential is there. There are lots of other pay to post websites out there. I can tell you from first-hand experience, in the beginning they are great, but once word gets out that there's a website that will pay you to post, everyone joins, and the website becomes so inundated with blogs that the offers become few and far between. Those websites may only have five or six opportunities available per advertiser, while Pay Per Post has many more to go around giving all their members equal opportunity. Also, when you are looking at the various blogging opportunities, you can view only qualified opportunties so you know which ones are right just for you. The directions are easy to follow. You will receive payment for all you accepted posts once a month. True, other websites pay immediately, but if you are willing to wait for your payment, you certainly can make a nice amount of money in that thirty day period.

Blogger Wave

It's been quite a while since I have written about blogging on this particular blog, but I couldn't allow this opportunity to go by without telling you about Bloggerwave. This is a great website that is free for bloggers to join and takes a few minutes to create an account. You can submit up to five blogs for approval and take the same offer for all five blogs. Some offers pay up to ten dollars. They also accept paypal as a means of payment. It's fun, it's easy and it's profitable. I hope you will give them a try soon.

Speaking Of Mother's Day

If you want to honor mom this Mother's Day and she happens to be an avid golfer, then, by all means, get mom something you know she will definitely use and appreciate. Maybe you don't know much about golfing, but Titleist Pro V1 golf balls are some of the finest that any golfer can use for their very best game. What you might not know as well is that you can get mom these incredible quality golf balls at a fraction of what they normally cost in an upscale specialty store. One website, who is often referred to as the ebay of the golf ball world, has created a way to sell to the public, gently used golf balls that are cleaned and repackaged. You can purchase first quality level golf balls which are like new and some are even in perfect condition. Mom will be impressed that you are spending your money wisely and with the money you save, you can check out some other items that are available like golf bags, training aids, golf apparel and novelty gifts. Don't fret if you think it's too late to order because items are usually shipped within twenty-four hours after order placement so be a real sport and get mom what you know she'll really want.

Chances are you are probably a mom so do something nice for yourself...you deserve it and have a great Mother's Day!

Take A Break With Gilmore Girls

Believe it or not, I only just got into this show when there was a marathon of 'Gilmore Girls' running on the ABC Family Network. I immediately fell in love with the mother and daughter team who seem to be capable of overcoming just about any obstacle with great aplomb. Thankfully, this is one show that is still running and new episodes are beginning this month with Rory (the daughter) contemplating marriage to her long-time beau, Logan. If you get a chance to check out this show, if you're not already a fan, then please do. It's fun and endearing and just good, clean television...a far cry from some of the awful reality television that plagues the other networks. For more information on the Gilmore Girls, just click on Gilmore Girls.

Summer Fun

Summer wouldn't be much without a great vacation planned. Believe it or not, it's not too late to plan a fun family vacation right now. The kids will be done with school soon and summer is the best time to bond with your family. There's no better place to do this than at Disney World, but there's more to this part of Florida than Mickey Mouse. There are so many theme parks and attractions in the Orlando area and if you are planning to be there any way, then you must get your tickets in advance so you don't miss out on any of the fun. Don't forget to get your Universal Studio Tickets because you wouldn't want to miss out on all their awesome attractions and rides. Thankfully, now you can make all your arrangements right at your fingertips and you can create a special vacation just for you and your family. Think of it as Disney Magic your way. You won't want to miss , Dusneyquest, Downtown Disney, Pleasure Island, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach Water Parks. You can also make arrangement to catch some great dinner shows like Arabian Nights or Medieval Times for a change of pace and don't forget the Kennedy Space Center. In just a few minutes, you can create memories for you and your family that will last a life time.

The Darker Side Of Spider-Man

The very first of the summer blockbusters, will open tonight with 'Spider-Man 3'. Unlike the Batman series, Toby Maguire still plays Spider-Man, but this new installment finds him encountering a black goo from outer space that turns his costume and his demeanor to black, making him his own worst enemy. Peter Parker still wants him dead and his girlfriend, played by Kirsten Dunst, still agonizes over their relationship. Nevertheless, this latest movie will still thrill audiences with all the pre-requisite special effects and audiences as well as critics, thus far, have given it at least three stars. For all you major Spider-Man fans, don't forget to check out the official Sony website at Spiderman and log on to find out all the latest information about your favorite super hero.

American Idol Stayin' Alive

Now that there are only four contestants left in this competition (only Lakisha, Melinda, Jordin and Blake remain), expect to see things really begin to heat up this week when Barry Gibb of the BeeGees, comes to American Idol to mentor the remaining contestants. The theme will be boogie nights so expect some 'Saturday Night Fever' to come your way. If you miss Chris and Phil, they'll be back for the finale and then the top ten contestants will be going on tour very shortly thereafter. For more information, just check American Idol for all the most up-to-date information.
