Are You Idolized?

Well I'm having huge problems uploading a photo, but this is a post about 'American Idol', so you can all just imagine a picture of Simon, Paula and Randy. I wasn't really going to get myself sucked into the seventh season of AI, but having recently read an article about the show prior to the season premiere, I thought I would give it another chance. The promise for this season is less hype with celebrity mentors spending a few minutes with each contestants as they prepare them to sing their songs, and more about the contestants themselves, much like the first season. Frankly, I couldn't imagine who else they could drag out of the seventies to prep these kids to sing songs most of them never heard of so it's really a breath of fresh air to learn that the show will be more about the kids. The show will boast a new set this year as well and the judges promise to be much tougher so that they can hopefully live down the shame of Sanjaya this season.

It's A Boy!

One day after the birth of a daughter to Nicole Ritchie and her boyfriend, Joel Madden, Christina Aguilera and her husband, Jordan, welcomed a baby boy which they have named Max. Both mother and son are doing fine. Maybe Max can meet up with Nicole's daughter, Harlow down the road for a play date!

On friday, Nicole Ritchie and long-time boyfriend, Joel Madden, welcomed a baby girl into the world. The couple are very happy that the baby is very healthy and Joel said she is so good already. This little girl has a very big name: Harlow Winter Kate Madden. I wonder which one they will use to call her by.

No Red Carpet

Last night I attended a party with a red-carpet theme. As attendees walked into the party room down a red carpet lined with velvet ropes, we were met by photographers who demanded a photo. It was very unique, but at the same time reminded me that there will be no red carpet events in the near future due to the writers' strike. Although I totally sympathize with the writers and their demands to be compensated for anything they've contributed to, including anything that appears on the internet, their long-standing strike is leaving us with nothing to gossip about. There will be no bad hair and/or dress decisions for us to nit-pick, nor will there be any drama, divas or sore losers. We are left with a news conference announcing the winners so why even bother watching? I know I won't bother. I'll probably catch up on something more important....like folding laundry.

There has been a great debate on many of the so-called news and entertainment programs debating Dr. Phil's visit to Britney Spear's hospital room over last weekend. So much so, that a spokesperson for the Spears family was interviewed on the "Today" show announcing that the family was not happy with Dr. Phil's public statement about his visit with Britney. Lawyers have even debated this (is there nothing else newsworthy anymore other than Britney's personal crisis?). The fact is that the family allegedly called Dr. Phil's wife (a personal friend of Britney's mom, or so it has been reported) and pleaded with her to ask him to come down and talk some sense into this girl. She never asked him herself to talk to her and he was never appointed her personal psychologist. His statement was merely an observation on his part and nothing he said was no worse than anything anyone else has said about this girl. Indeed, he was grandstanding and totally self-promoting, but he did nothing illegal or immoral or anything else. A lot of good it did them any way. Apparently, Britney is so mad, she's not talking to any of them now, which is probably just as well since she's taken to speaking with a rather bad British accent.

More Than One Side To Her

Ever since Britney was rushed to the hospital after a three hour stand-off involving the custody of her children, every day brings new details of this last episode, none of which is creating the picture of a stable woman. The latest details include, the possibility that Britney may be suffering from a multiple personality disorder. The Doctor Makes A House Call

Dr. Phil didn't actually make a house call, but he did spend an hour with Britney Spears at Cedars-Sinai Hospital shortly before she checked herself out within 48 hours after she was brought in for observation. I truly hope that this year Britney will make up her mind to finally get some much needed help for own sake and for the sake of her little boys, who need their mother.

Under The Influence

Britney Spears was rushed to the hospital via ambulence in the middle of the night and was placed in a medical holding facility which may be evaluating her for substance abuse. Unfortunately though, Britney's one-year old son, Jayden, was also rushed to the hospital and at this time, it is uncertain as to the reason. One has to hope that this baby was not exposed to any drug abuse that may have been going on while in his mother's custody, but with all the "supervised" visitation that has been going on, it is a wonder if Britney should be allowed around her kids at all. There was a time when I scoffed at predictions that she would suffer a premature death or, worse yet, at her own hands, but now I'm not so sure. She is looking more like a train wreck.
