Another Runway Season

Project Runway which airs on Bravo, will be heading towards it's fifth season, but who can wait that long? This is probably one of the smartest reality shows on television, but Bravo does reality so well with other shows like Top Chef and Kathy Griffin's 'The D List'. I can't get enough of any of these shows, and thankfully Bravo makes re-runs available both on television and online so, if you're like me, check out your favorite episodes to tide you over until the new season begins.

A Walk For Teens

It's no secret that more and more children and teens are suffering the effects of lack of exercise and poor eating choices, which eventually leads to obesity. It is such a huge concern now that many physicians worry that children will not outlive their parents and that diabetes will become a huge epidemic. In an effort to fight childhood obesity, Leslie Sansone of Walk Away The Pounds fame, now has a brand new walking program for teens simply entitled Teen Walk. This program is designed specifically for teens and the participants are kids. In recent DVDs, Leslie has enlisted her own daughter to join in the walking program and this led to her idea to make a program targeted just for kids. This is a great way to get kids off the couch and exercising in the comfort of their own homes. You can even do the program with your teen if they don't want to do it alone, but it's just a great way for them to get some exercise.

Sir Clay

Clay Aiken will be appearing on Broadway very soon, in the role of Sir Robin in the hit musical comedy Spamalot. Clay says he literally jumped at the chance to perform on Broadway when the great director, Mike Nichols approached him. He won't be the only American Idol alumni to take a Broadway stage this Fall. As former Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino leaves the hit show, The Color Purple, LaKisha Jones will be taking over her spot.

Shabby Chic

No one can argue that designer Marc Jacobs isn't a talented, albeit sometimes troubled, man who has been designing his own line as well as pieces for Louis Vuitton. Years ago, when my kids were little, they outgrew their good clothing so fast, that often, things were only worn once. Another Baby Bump Confirmation

Since Jennifer Lopez has been on tour with her husband, Marc Anthony, baby bump watchers have been anxiously awaiting confirmation of a pregnancy and they finally got what they've been waiting for. Jennifer joins the growing number of celebrities who are presently on their own baby bump watch including newly pregnant actress, Halle Berry. Jennifer is still early into her pregnancy, but her bump is very prominent which is begging the question "could it be twins?". No one knows for sure, but her and her hubby, but needless to say they are both happy with the pregnancy and their tour.
As an update to the original post, I had to change the photo and Jennifer confirmed that she is definitely pregnant with twins. Hope this photo sticks!

This October, Think Pink

For years now, the month of October has been dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer. It has done nothing less than bringing to the forefront, the importance of early detection, which can mean the difference between winning or losing the battle against breast cancer, as well as raising the much-needed funds to continue to find newer and better ways towards early detection and drugs that may eventually cure the disease. More and more companies are jumping on the pink bandwagon to raise money and awareness. Look for products at the Bobbi Brown cosmetic counter that include lipstick and lip gloss sets that are selling for $30 and the company will donate $35,000 towards research. Sonia Kashuk, a breast cancer survivor herself, has a beautiful make-up brush set in a pink case selling at Target for $19.99 with net proceeds going towards reasearch. OPI, my favorite nail polish line, has introduced a beautiful pink color called Pink of Hearts which sells for $7.50 at all stores that carry their line, including Ulta and they are donating $25,000 to the Susan G. Komen fund. Look for pink jewelry, t-shirts, umbrellas, pocketbooks and even a pink vacuum from Dyson which sells for $399 at Target with $40 of every sale going towards research. One of the biggest fund raisers though will be the footwear event sponsored every year by QVC. This event has raised over 25 million dollars which has gone to various organizations. This year the event will take place on Wednesday, October 17th from 7 to 10 PM. The point is, spend a little money and get something nice for yourself while helping to find a cure for a deadly disease that will hopefully be wiped out in our lifetime.

She is allowed visitation rights now with her sons, but only in the presence of a court-appointed monitor who will report any unusual behavior. I certainly hope that she can pull herself together for her own sake, but more importantly, for her beautiful children.

His Viewpoint

Kevin Federline, pictured here with one of his children from another relationship, now has custody of his two sons from his marriage to Britney Spears. He has a full-time nanny who has already been photographed taking both boys out to a local park, while Britney spends her free time (also photographed) shopping in Beverly Hills. A source close to Kevin has stated that he takes no pleasure in having sole, physical custody of his children. His goal is to have shared custody, and he hopes that Britney will now take the time to pull herself together so they can continue to jointly raise the children. The whole world is hoping the same thing, but in the meantime, Britney's latest single has been way up in popularity on iTunes.

Yes, there is such a thing as an ageless diva, and her name is Suzanne Somers. I wrote a while back about how Suzanne was going to start a subsidiary of her already very popular and varied lines as seen on the Home Shopping Network, whereby her long-time fans could promote and sell the very same products. The Better Parent Or The Lesser Of Two Evils?

Apparently, Britney may have temporarily lost custody of her two boys because she did not comply with several requirements of the court including getting her driver's license up to date and submitting to regular drug testing. According to the TMZ, Britney allegedly drove, with her children, to a local fast-food drive-thru restaurant, and after placing and receiving an order, she surrendered the children to Kevin Federline's bodyguard. She wasn't supposed to surrender her children until Wednesday. So apparently, the court finds Kevin Federline to be the better parent at this point. He allegedly has cut way down on his own partying, unlike Britney, and he makes a point to pick up the kids every evening for dinner. Ironically, Britney's problems may have begun when she initially met Kevin Federline, some may say. However, I believe that Britney may have had problems long before Kevin Federline came along and she may have just been very good at covering those problems up with her squeaky-clean, virginal personna. The question is this now; will she be able to survive having to surrender custody of her children to her ex-husband? Only time will tell.

More and more consumers are beginning to see high-end designers, design for lower-end retail and even discount stores. Designers have always done ready wear lines for higher end retail stores, but prices for ready wear by high-end designers were not for middle-class consumers. Perhaps designers are feeling the need to allow all consumers to have a taste of what celebrities have been experiencing all along. Maybe it's our desire to be more like all those stars we see on the red carpet, but whatever the reason for this phenomenon, it shows no signs of slowing down. If you love Vera Wang, you can purchase a line from her exclusively at Kohls called simply Vera. This line has reasonably priced separates and dresses which are very reasonably priced and which makes designers like Vera, very accessible to the average woman. Britney Loses Babies

Today, a judge in California, ordered Britney Spears to turn over custody of her two sons to her former husband, Kevin Federline, until further notice. This is breaking news and I don't have all the details as to why the judge came to this conclusion today since the last court hearing yeilded a decision to keep the custody status quo so that both parents would still share parenting tasks. Any other information about the court order to have Kevin Federline retain physical custody of the children is unknow at this time, even by the world's biggest gossip site, TMZ. I'm sure that we will all be aware of why the judge made his decision in a very short period of time, but in the meantime, I'm sure Britney is even more traumatized than she's been over the last few months, which may send her spiraling more out of control.
