I've Joined Facebook

As you can see from my sidebar (you may have to scroll down a bit to see it), I'm now a member of Facebook. Unfortunately, Facebook has gotten somewhat of a bum rap lately. They were recently subpoened by the government for their records. I understand the need to keep track of sex offenders, but I'm not sure Facebook is the place to look. My hope is that young adults have been schooled enough in the use of the internet so as not to hook up with anyone they don't know and certainly, not to give out any personal information to an unknown individual. I'm enjoying my membership and have met some great people and have joined some groups that coincide with my interests. My point is, these groups are great places for people of all ages to meet as long as they are used wisely and with caution.

A Credit Card That's Just Right For You

It's pretty much a given that most, if not all people, need a credit card. In this day and age it's important to find a credit card that gives you the most flexiblity in terms of interest rates and benefits for either balance transfers or new purchases. Now you can get a credit card that offers a zero interest rate for six months on balance transfers or, you can choose a credit card that offers great benefits for those who love to travel. You can also apply for a credit card that offers you the opportunity to make donations to various charities when you open an account and every time you use it to make purchases. You can also apply for a credit card right now that will earn you benefits for the coming holidays. The point is, you can choose a card that is just right for you and your lifestyle. With all these choices, there's a credit card that's right for everyone.

Jeans With Color

Denim blue jeans will always be in style, but this Fall, the trend in jeans is color. Stars have been wearing straight-legged colored jeans for a while now and the trend has trickled down to ready wear. Of course, the trendier brands are selling the colored jeans for well over a hundred and even over two-hundred dollars. There's no reason in the world to spend that much money on an item that will surely be out of style by next season. Instead, update your wardrobe with one or two pair of trendy jeans and buy them and inexpensive as possible. For instance, you can get a pair of colored jeans at Target for under $25 a pair. Other discount stores will also be carrying less expensive brands as well so be sure to shop around for the bargains and save your money for more important things, like your mortgage payment.

Love At Any Age

Everyone needs love, but often seniors are left out of the dating scene because there are no legitimate ways for them to meet suitable companions. Now there is a website dedicated to senior dating. Here you can meet people in your own age group, from your own geographical area. It's free to join and easy to navigate. You can check the profiles regularly, as they updated many times throughout the day. You can see photos of prospective dates and find someone with similar interests and hobbies. You can send a private message or a flirt and get to know someone special in the comfort of your own home. Single's bars are no place for your single mom or dad, but now there's a place they can go on the internet for senior personals so they too can have an active social life and enjoy the golden years with someone special.

The Biggest Loser And A Whole Slew Of Others

Reality television shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. This past month brought the season premiere of 'The Biggest Loser', with a new show host along with not one, not two, but three teams competing for the coveted 'biggest loser' title. Also, 'Beauty and the Geek' debuted this month along with 'America's Next Top Model'. 'Dancing With the Stars' debuted this week with a new twist; men and women contestants will be competing on different nights with results on a third night. Of course the mother of all reality television, 'American Idol' won't make it's debut until early next year, but you can bet they will have to also put a new spin on an idea that was already wearing thin last season, as evidenced by falling ratings.

What's Up Your Sleeve This Fall?

It's inevitable that with the return of Fall, we must put away all our summer clothing. All those sleeveless and short sleeve shirts will be put away in the back of our closets to make way for anything that will keep us warm as winter is not far behind. However, you will notice that this Fall, sleeves have taken different shapes. In fact, many of the new blouses and tops have elbow length sleeves that are far from straight and narrow. Cape sleeves, bell sleeves, sailor top sleeves are all in style this Fall, along with the return of cinched waists. Since sleeves on some coats and jackets are only elbow length as well, the long return of elbow length gloves are making a comeback. Long leather gloves can be found in the most chic stores, but they don't come cheap. Long leather gloves can run well over $300 a pair so make sure you will get good use out of them if you plan to invest that much money. The overall look this Fall is chic and feminine. The best plan for shopping is find out what the must-have looks are and see if you can re-create them through a combination of what you already own and what's available in discount stores. Check out TJ Maxx for some great bargains.

How About A New Dell Notebook?

With three people in our house using one computer, I think it's about time to buy another computer. I love the idea of getting a
Notebook Computer as opposed to a Desktop Computer because of the size as well as the flexibility in moving it from one place to another. Of course, when it comes to computers, the first name that comes to mind is Dell for a Notebook 17". Best of all, Dell is a worldwide company that services customers globally. They have an excellent service department and their products are not only great quality, but are very affordable. I know because I already own a Dell Computer and I wouldn't buy any other brand. I can't wait to pick out my new Dell Notebook Computer. I can customize it to my own specifications and have the computer delivered right to my door in a very short period of time. My only problem will be hiding it from my daughter.

A Real Beauty Bargain

I caught an interview with Cybil Shephard on a talk show not too long ago and someone asked her how she stays so young looking. She's not yet had any plastic surgery or any injections and she says her number one beauty secret is Vaseline. She uses a thin layer on her skin at night and she swears by it. In fact many beauties over the years have relied on Vaseline to help moisturize their very dry skin including Tyra Banks. You can certainly use it on chapped skin and lips, but did you know that if you apply a thin layer of Vaseline around your eyes at night, you will wake up in the morning with dewey soft skin and no crinkling around eyes. It's true! I've done this myself and I'm amazed at the results all for a few dollars spent at my locak drug store. For a personal message from Tyra regarding her love of Vaseline and the bling on the jar shown in the photo, just click here.

A Genuine Beauty

Jenny McCarthy has pretty much always been the blonde bombshell (or bimbo), depending on what role she is playing. She is beautiful, sexy and always the funny girl, but Jenny had been hiding a secret from her fans for a few years which is now revealed in her new book "Louder Than Words". In her latest book (she is a best-selling author too!), she chronicles the experiences of learning and dealing with her son's autism and how it has impacted her life and personal relationships. In the midst of the trauma of trying to have her son properly diagnosed, her marriage fell apart and she spent a great deal of time alone trying to find answers. In her latest book, she not only offers hope to other parents, but she also embraces all her vulnerabilities with grace and humor. She is a genuine beauty despite her bottle-blonde hair and fake boobs, both inside and out. You can purchase this book at Amazon.com.

The View Gives Barry The Boot

Barry Manilow, who has a new CD, "The Greatest Songs of the Seventies", requested (or demanded depending on who you listen to) that he not share the same stage as host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. No one tells Barbara Walters what to do, so it was 'The View' that cancelled Barry's appearance today, not the other way around. Funny he should make this request now. Afterall, he's made two appearances on 'The View' with Elisabeth and there was no problem. Maybe the departure of his good friend, Rosie O'Donnell is the reason for his sudden change of heart towards Elisabeth and no her staunchly conservative political views, as he claims. We'll never know the reason, but if any kind of publicity, even bad, is a good thing, then he won the lottery today.

Bachata Crazy

If you love latin dancing and you love to go to latin dance clubs, then you must know that people are going crazy for the bachata. The bachata is a latin dance that is all the craze now at all the dance clubs. When you watch couples do this dance, you might think that it would be too difficult to learn, but now there are some great bachata videos that can easily help you learn the dance steps so you too can go bachata crazy. This three volume set allows you to easily follow the steps and you can review them at your own pace until you feel confident. Dancing is not only great fun and a great way to socialize, but it's great exercise too! This post is sponsored by Pay Per Post.

Red Carpet Sunday

Will you be watching the Emmy Awards tonight? More importantly, will you be watching the red carpet broadcast on various channels, prior to the telecast of the awards show? Expect to see some new faces on the red carpet roundup tonight, including Lisa Rinna for the TV Guide Channel since Joan Rivers and offspring are no longer employed. Usually Ryan Seacrest does the red carpet commentary for 'E', but since he's hosting, who knows who'll be doing that spot (maybe Joan Rivers again). It would be hard to watch without her, but then again, some people are probably glad to see her go. In the meantime, I'll be rooting for my boys from my favorite HBO series 'Entourage'.

Never Enough Storage Space

I am one of those people who loves to keep things organized. It's the only way I can exist in my small home. Now I've found a website which will help me get the storage bins I need. They literally have dozens of storage bins to choose from, which are great for my brand new shed. If you have a garage which needs some organizing, then check out the great storage units. You might even be able to finally park your car in the garage once you get organized.

Get Ready For the 70s

Barry Manilow is set to release another cover album, this time covering the greatest songs of the seventies (the CD is aptly entitled 'The Greatest Songs of the 70s). Normally, I would say, pass this one up, but I've heard several cuts and 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' is worth the price of the CD. If you are a fan, then definitely go for the deluxe version and you will also get additional songs from the seventies.....his own, only this time with a bit of a twist. His accoustic version of 'Copacabana' is very smart and sophisticated and a great way to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Lola. You can pre-order the CD here.

It's Almost Ski Season

I can't believe I'm already talking about skiing, but before you know it, you'll be thinking about new ski gear, cute clothes and lift tickets. Just today, my son said that he was looking forward to getting in some skiing this winter and that can only mean he'll need some new equipment. I found some great rossignol skis on the Christy Sports website, and best of all, I can order all the equipment and clothing I need from one website, from such manufacturers as Ride for snowboards or Spyder for clothing. The prices are very competitive and the ability to shop online couldn't be any easier. It's also a great website if you are thinking about holiday gifts for your favorite ski fanatic or, for yourself. This post is sponsored by Pay Per Post.

Walk The Walk

I have written previously on my blog about Leslie Sanson. She is the creator of the very popular 'Walk Away The Pounds' series. She recently came out with a brand new version of her five mile walk program which has numerous configurations that you can use. If you want to only do one mile, you can or you can do a three mile or the total five mile walk with or without the two pound weights which come with the program if you order it through QVC. I've been using this program for about two weeks now and I can already see the difference. Try it; you won't be disappointed.

Discover Yourself

Quiz Rocket has some fun and interesting personal quizes to take like the am I gay quiz. In fact, there are over eighteen personality tests and trivia quizzes with new ones added every week. You can take a quiz and earn a badge which you can display on your blog or Myspace page. Along with your score, you will also receive some great offers from advertisers. You can take a quiz on just about anything from dating to religion to intelligence to where you should live. It's not only entertaining, but you get to learn some things about yourself you didn't know.

Rosie Detox

The woman we love to hate is back in the news with a brand new and yet another tell-all book about how and why Rosie O'Donnell is so screwed up. She broke her own limbs, she writes in her new book, so that people would pay attention to her and she could know her own self worth. However horrific that may sound to you, at least we now know why she has a constant and insatiable need to call attention to herself in a negative way. She is constantly in an emotional rescue mode, even now. Of course, she takes the time to regurgitate about Barbara Walters, etc. I mean, who really cares now how she feels about Barbara Walters or anyone else for that matter? Barbara is old, Elizabeth is a Republican, Donald is a loser and Rosie is a bitch. Let's move on, shall we?

It's Britney Bitch

Britney Spears opened up the MTV Awards Show last night, live from The Palms in Vegas. Let me just say, right up front, that I really liked her performance. Critics can't wait to jump on the "Britney's a loser" bandwagon, but I have to say, she made an honest, but tentative effort. I'm guessing she was a bit nervous and she gingerly moved through dance moves with less gusto than she did in years gone by. She had a much better head of hair than she's been seen with in the last few months and for a woman who gave birth to two babies back to back, she has a great, more womanly body. Finally, I really like her new song. It's got all the earmarks of a hit and hopefully, she can regain a foothold in the music business once again after the release of a new album. Everyone has to get over the fact that she lip syncs her live performances. She can sing just fine, but she can't sing and dance at the same time just like more people can't walk and chew gum. She's had a very rough few months, albeit at her own doing most of the time, but she deserves a break.

Let Your Fingers Do The Decorating

Since I began my new career as a real estate agent, I've been thinking about re-furnishing a lot. First there's my own home office in desperate need of an executive home office desk and then there's everyone else's house I walk into that is in desperate need of an extreme makeover. Now, there's a great website that allows you to order quality home furnishings at the touch of a fingertip. The website is incredibly easy to navigate and the photos of the furnishings are exquisite. So, whether you are in need of bedroom furniture, living room furniture, Furniture home office decorating tips, then you will love the ease of this website. This post is sponsored by Pay Per Post.

Victoria Will Pay A Visit To Ugly Betty

Expect to see Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice, in a cameo role on ABC's "Ugly Bety" this fall. She will play a bride's maid (as herself) to bride, Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) when she marries Bradford Meade (Alan Dale).
Also slated to begin this fall on ABC, is a new dancing competition, which is a spin-off of Dancing With The Stars. "Dance Wars" will be hosted by DWTS's second season winner, Drew Lachey. DWTS's judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli will assemble teams of dancers who will compete in dancing and singing face-offs. I'm sure there will be more revelations about the Fall television line-up as we approach the season.

When You Need A Little Inspiration.....

Then you really need to turn to Karl Moore. This wonderful (and adorable) guy has a great inspirational website. Karl is a writer, entrepreneur and developer who has a wonderful blog simply entitled Karl's blog. Here you will find such uplifting posts like why it's a good thing to save a spider's life. He also posts 'Friday Factoids' on fridays (check out his post about the Bronx) and Monday's are dedicated to random acts of kindness. I loved reading his post about how he takes time out of his very busy day to nurture himself. It's something I often forget to do and when I read this blog, it reminds me that I really have to take some time to just do the things that I enjoy so I can be a better person to everyone else in my life. As an avid blogger, I often seek out these kinds of inspirational writers who help keep me grounded in my own life so I can hopefully turn around and do the same for others. Also, check out some of the inspirational quotes that he has listed in his blog from other people who have inspired him. It's no less than uplifting! I am so happy I found this blog and I know once you visit, you'll be just as addicted as I am.

Rosie's Says She's Watching; Who Cares?

Big mouth, Rosie O'Donnell, whose only outlet now is her blog, writes that she will be watching 'The View' to see how new co-host, Whoopie Goldberg, is doing. Who cares? Whoopie Goldberg is no less opinionated, but she has a way of delivering her views, without offending. Even as she defended Michael Vick, she was still her charming self. All the drama queens who tuned in consistently during Rosie's tenure, fueled by her unprovoked attacks on various people, will have to move on. They complain that the new beige set is just a visual backdrop to more ho-hum banter, but I say it's a breath of fresh air to see four grown women discussing things intelligently, rather than ensuing in a bitch-fest that ends up as tabloid fodder. Also noted on
Rosie's blog, is her post that her duet recorded for Barry Manilow's new CD, has been dropped from the set list. She says it was her voice, but I think that the powers that be decided that she would definitely hurt album sales in more ways than one.

Taking Back Your Life

Drug dependency is something that impacts people from all walks of life. Doctors, lawyers, stock brokers, teachers, mothers, fathers and children. Many drug addicts begin their addiction through the use of pain killers. Some of these drugs are highly addictive and the addiction is very difficult to break. One mthod of breaking an addiction to pain killers and other substances is through drug detox. In any event, people with addictions need as much support as possible and through internet forums they are able to connect with each other and hopefully, through that connection, they are able to find the help they need to take back their lives.

The Best Mother Ever

It's hard to believe that yesterday marked the tenth anniversary of the passing of Princess Diana. A memorial service was held in London yesterday for two reasons. The first to celebrate the life of a woman who gave more of herself to the world than any other member of any royal family. The second was in an effort to finally put closure on all the speculation over her death. While the first reason was served well, the latter may never come to fruition. The most poignant moment of the service is when younger son, Harry (the spare, not the heir) gave a moving speech filled with love and tenderness proclaiming the Princess of the people, to be "the best mother ever". Thankfully, Prince Charles' current wife, Camilla, had the good sense to stay away from the service. Her presence could only be a bitter reminder for those who loved Diana, that she was the straw that finally broke the camel's back in a marriage that never really had a chance any way.
